yes i found out that this was from the Devs and 3D Designers to moove through the world (without character) ..so it isnt a real standalone client .
well, still kinda cool if you could activate it...
Are you sure, Neo? That's the admin fly command. Dunno why they'd name the same thing multiple ways.

I heard that it was possible to run around in a standalone client in the beta days with the useropt NetJoin = "". These days using this will cause MXO to crash.
Has it been tried again since the servers shut down? It prolly crashed cause the server checked for that command and told it to stop responding if used....?
there is no NetJoin command.
There is, but my old (2007 backuped) client doesn't start at all - doesn't find network and crashes so I cannot check how it will crash from this command.
Command is in autoexec.cfg:

# Leave blank to run server-less. Otherwise give address of server.
# NetJoin ="hostname"

When and how it was been used still doesn't have a clue.

Edit:

I have tried with 7z client posted here.
It is written that commands in autoexec.cfg are replaced by launcher and has to be moved to useropts.cfg
I copied lines in useropts and tried all possible ways to start MxO - there is launcher starting and nothing more.
matrix.exe itself refuse to start - with explanation to use shortcut from installation (as I remember it was to launcher not to matrix.exe) so maybe here is dog buried... beta matrix.exe maybe was able to be started directly.
NetJoin is a relic from before the engine was DISCOVERY. discovery must connect to a server obviously, netjoin worked before the network protocol was rewritten from lithtech 2.0 to discovery.
Does that mean that there is client version that could be started alone?
If yes, any idea what will this client do without server, is it load abilities, it will load iteration with objects and NPCs?
In short words is such idea useful for data extraction for Emu?
nope, as it would be like the alpha version
