Yep. Ubisoft was originally going to publish the game, but backed out in early 2004. Some people thought they left because of the lackluster reviews the sequels got, however Ubisoft also dropped the online Uru game they were working on at the same time and pretty much backed away from MMOs in general.
MxO was later co-published by Warner Bros and Sega.
