Hi. There are plenty of shitty MMORPGs and video games of other genres in this world that are live and available for play. On the other hand, Matrix Online, which is of quite a good quality (from graphics and atmosphere standpoing) - discontinued.
Why Sony closed the project instead of making it free to play? Is there any chance of revival in near future? There are web sites for getting votes of people for some cause, for example for revival of MxO. If we gather, let's say, 100 000 votes for getting MxO back online, can it convince Sony?
Unfortunately, MxO was shut down shortly before the Free to Play business model was proven to be a viable alternative to being 100% subscription-based. Outside of the Asian market, F2P games didn't really start becoming a thing until 2010. MxO shut down in 2009.

SOE didn't really care about the game then, and they don't seem to care about it now. So, the odds of them bringing it back are pretty much zero. There weren't even 100K people playing it when it was live. The population of the game was around 500 active players when it was shut down, so getting a massive amount of signatures isn't really feasible.
Pathetic. Well, I hope that at some point in future we'll have a fully playable emulator.
The easiest way is to bring in imaginative modders and make them co-owners.
