The reality does stay up, everything else closes abruptly and then the message box that says, "Error: Authentication Failed!", comes up.

Are you using matrix2.bat instead of the normal launcher?

RE: Idiot's Guide to Installing MxOE - jcool8016 - 16-03-2010

yes, definitely.

There are some times when it will go as far as letting me choose a server, then get to the game's loading screen. But then about 2 seconds later, it all closes down and gives me the error message...

Running the Matrix2.bat as administrator?

its the same thing; on YOUR computer, right click on the PROGRAM and run as admin

ok, I did that for both reality.exe and matrix2.bat. When I did it for reality, it started to run the program normally. But when I right-click run as admin for matrix2.bat, a message box comes up saying: "Do you want to make the following program to make changes to your computer?" I clicked yes. and then nothing happens... Undecided

Sounds like the patched files were corrupted when you downloaded them, try installing a download manager and re-downloading that .7z file. This happened to someone before and that's what fixed it for them when we went through everything.

Edit: qq lost rep how do this

What do you mean? Why/how would I "switch" it?

The .7z file is the matrix online files right? (like the ones you download if you didn't have the original discs)
