Xchat has version for linux. I just installed it from aptitude and connected ok to Dalnet (was on the predefined server list).

On the other hand, the Dalnet server doesnt hide your hostname, ip address and ip-provider, and explicitly autoblocks proxies (if you use them to hide that data) so,personally, i will pass.
